A team led by Kihei’s Adam Tabura took first place in the Food Network’s “The Great Food Truck Race.”
The food reality TV show’s final competition, which ended in Washington, D.C., was televised Sunday night.
Tabura, an executive chef and businessman from Kihei; his brother, Lanai Tabura, a radio personality and comedian from Oahu; and friend Shawn Felipe, a comedian and actor on Oahu and in Los Angeles, made up team Aloha Plate.
They took home $50,000 and a food truck.
The show, now in its fourth season, took teams across the Mainland to sell their grub out of their tricked-out food trucks. The team that made the least money was eliminated after each city visit.
The competition had already been completed with taped episodes being aired. In the final episode, Aloha Plate bested Tikka Tikka Taco.
“In front of the nation’s Capitol, the guys from a little island in Hawaii were declared the winners,” the Food Network website said.
