Will Sparrow Racing League Come To Destiny 2 In 2022?

Will Bungie ever add the fan-favourite Sparrow Racing League in Destiny 2? Read our guide to find out.

Bungie is notoriously famous for vaulting content from Destiny 2. Whether it's activities, planets, entire expansions, or in some cases, annual events. Stuff like Crimson Days have long been forgotten by Bungie but not by Destiny 2 players.

Another fan-favorite event that was part of Destiny 1 but never made it to Destiny 2 was Sparrow Racing League. Fans have been yearning for this light-hearted event to return since Bungie released Destiny 2 in 2017. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened yet. But will Sparrow Racing League finally come to Destiny 2 in 2022? Read our guide to find out.

Sparrow Racing League will likely not return in 2022

Sadly, it seems Sparrow Racing League won't be coming to Destiny 2 in 2022. Instead, we will likely get the Dawning Event during that period.

While fans have consistently asked Bungie to bring back Sparrow Racing League in Destiny, the company remains adamant about not bringing it back.

Will Sparrow Racing League ever come back to Destiny?

Bungie could add Sparrow Racing in Destiny 2 as an optional activity in the future, but bringing back a separate event seems too far-fetched at this point in time.

Rumors suggested that SRL was too expensive to produce, and the number of people that actually engaged with it in Destiny 1 was far too few, thus making it unprofitable for Bungie. In 2022, however, things could be different.

Recent Destiny 2 seasons have all embodied very serious tones, which makes sense with the approaching end of the Light and the Darkness saga. Amidst all the seriousness, something light-hearted like the Sparrow Racing League could be a breath of fresh air.

Furthermore, by adding an Event Card, like other Destiny 2 annual events, Bungie could overhaul the SRL completely, giving players new bounties to complete, rewards to unlock, and triumphs to pursue, basically more incentive to participate in this thrilling activity.

As of this writing, Bungie is hard at work on finishing its next big expansion, Lightfall, which releases on 28th February 2023. As such, it makes no sense for the team to shift their attention to an experimental vintage event like SRL.

We will, however, update this article if and when Bungie decides to bring this activity to Destiny 2.
